what's in your jar...
But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that his life may be revealed in our mortal body. So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you. (2 Corinthians 4:5-12)
Our devotions this morning had us reading this passage. I pray that each day God will use more and more of me and use the treasure of Him that I have stored in my “jars”. I pray that regardless of the situation, the feelings at hand, the time of day and the moment of my distress/joy/happiness/love/peace/comfort that I remember that I do carry the death and the resurrection inside of me….that’s heavy but it is so awesome!
The writer has made it safely to the writing conference, in time for the opening session and to hear a reading by Thomas Lynch. I know that he is anxious to see Donald Miller as well and tonight will be the announcement about manuscripts…fingers crossed!
I am going to spend a lovely weekend with my mom, she is going to come up and spend the night tomorrow night and we are going to stuff ourselves on the one and only best Italian restaurant around and, on Saturday, we are going to a Spring Tea that the local Christian does as a fundraiser for their program called Harvest of Talents (pretty cool organization that fights world poverty). It is also the church that the husband has applied to so, so mom and I will dig up our old, Italian voodoo magic and give the building a good evil eye to make them hire him! If only it were that easy!
